Near the end of a slow trade show day a lovely couple came into my booth. The gentleman said he had all kinds of my products at home but he did not know how to use them. His wife had left him, she was the consumer, and she just loved all of the products. For the next 45 minutes they both walked around my booth pointing at all the items that he had. I took the time to explained how to use each one. He purchased a large quantity of new products, price was not an issue. Just prior to them leaving the booth I asked him why his wife had not taken all of her items with her when she left. He said she couldn’t because she had died!

Oh goodness, have I ever! You can’t get better if your perfect right?
I was at a tradeshow once and one of my Reps brought by a “New” Distributor. Didn’t tell me what company, but I started ranting about how one Distributor in particular in that area was not doing a great job, so we welcome any new representation for our products. Well, turns out he was a branch of the Distributor I was ranting about. Sheesh.
It turned out well because it showed him that I wasn’t laying around like a doormat waiting for his patronage but boy was it embarrassing!
Moral of the story: always know who you are talking to before you say too much.
