Dazzle This Diva – September 2nd Edition

kimduke | Dazzle This Diva,Diva Questions For You | Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

Our question this week is from Jolayn Jumaga at Iris Essences

We sell health remedies that are highly effective and sold by doctors but the general public
just looks confused when we tell them what we sell.

When people are very cautious about
spending money they view unknown products such as ours as non-essential expenses when in fact it has
been proven to be the opposite…..

How does one create excitement about a product line that is brand new to most people and
that they just won’t ‘get’ without trying themselves?

thanks for your help!

p.s. your sales ‘does’ and ‘don’ts’ are right on the money

  1. Jolayn, I totally get where you’re coming from. My business faces some of those challenges, too. My best friend? Testimonials!

Now when I go to any event, I give a brochure to everyone I give a business card to. The main reason is that I can put testimonials in their hand. It’s also great that rarely is anyone else giving out brochures, so it helps me stand out.

When I’m networking, I go quickly to giving examples of success stories and it peaks people’s interest. Then I don’t get the eyes-glazed-over look I used to get trying to explain what I do or how it works.

On Facebook and Twitter I post about results people are getting, and that brings clients also. I don’t post much about what I actually do. The results get people to my website where there are more testimonials. And they’re peppered throughout the site — not just on one page.

I got great testimonials by writing a list of questions and asking them to people over the phone and recording the calls, then transcribing them. That way I could direct what they said, but get their own words. Works great!

Have fun with your business. What a great service you offer.

And thanks, Kim, for all you teach us!

  2. Jolayn – I visitied your site as I am a prospective customer. A few comments (all may be hard to swallow, but I hope they help!)

I love the colours and the clean feeling of the site – really good. The rest of my comments are negative, but they reflect the reactions of someone who came to the site knowing nothing, but interested!

Wasn’t a fan of the photo of the woman, she looks like she is grimacing after swallowing something and why is her hair in her face? It’s distracting.

Where is the short, quick description of what essences are and what they will do for me? I had to search for the answer.

The Essence List tab is misleading – I went to it first expecting the list of available essences, not ingrediencets. I didn’t see the Essence Store until later. I nearly left before I found it. It needs to be front and centre.

MOST IMPORTANTLY – I got a Big Microsoft Phishing Warning while on your site, telling me not to give you any personal information. You need someone with technical know-how to help you manage the security aspects.

And actually, you really need to provide more focus on the transformation I will experience as I use essences….

    Good luck with it!

  3. Hello Jolayn,

I am fan of all natural “medicines” so I love the site contnet and information.
The testimonials from Doctors could be more prominently place and maybe even linked to their
site or articles that they written in support of natural health.

As the Diva, said testimonials should at least have full name and location if not contact details.

Your service is a great and growing one as so many consumers are becoming more open to “alternative” treatments.

    Healthy success, always Jolayn!
